Behind the Name
Pissenlit means “dandelion” in French. Soft yet resilient, the flower reflects Wei’s own experience of coming to the United States as an international student and building her education, career and brand.
It is a personal reminder that you can find your place, grow and bloom wherever life takes you.
A Personal Connection to Making Clothes
Our founder, Wei, grew up watching her mother work as a seamstress, making garments that included double-faced cashmere coats. Long before starting Pissenlit, she learned to appreciate the fabric, construction and care behind a beautifully made piece.
Years later, a visit to China brought that early connection back into focus. Seeing friends and family wearing double-faced cashmere coats inspired her to bring that same attention to materials and construction to customers in the United States.
Today, her family remains involved in producing Pissenlit’s cashmere pieces. That connection to making clothes continues to shape the brand.
The Details make the Difference
We work closely with long-standing production partners in China, including family-run factories, on fabric selection, fit, construction and finishing. Many of our double-faced cashmere coats require extensive hand-finishing, with close attention to the way the finished garment drapes and moves.
Across the collection, design details serve a purpose. Selected styles feature removable collars, reversible construction or layering pieces that can be worn together or separately. A coat can work over denim or a dress; a cashmere sweater can take you from a flight to dinner.
The result is a wardrobe that feels modern, polished and useful.
